A room divider paper plan separates path length from occupied span
A fictional two-segment coordinate model keeps path length, bounding width and depth separate. The geometry supplies no hinge angle, stability, placement or privacy result for an actual screen.

A room divider paper plan can describe the length along connected segments and the space those segments span in different directions. Those numbers need not match. This original fictional coordinate exercise keeps them separate. It is not a furniture layout, and it supplies no actual screen hinge angle, support arrangement, stability test, clearance, privacy result or instruction for opening or positioning equipment.
Define the drawing and its axes
Imagine Pia drawing an ideal line model on paper. Its horizontal axis is called x and its depth axis y. Both use invented drawing units, with no scale assigned to an actual room or product. The model contains points connected by straight segments. It has no panel thickness, hinge, feet, height or physical weight.
Pia places the first point at zero, zero; the second at four, three; and the third at eight, zero. Read each pair as x followed by y. The first segment goes from the first point to the second, and the next segment continues from there to the third. Those coordinates completely define this first paper path.
Calculate the length along each segment
The first segment changes x by four units and y by three units. Its length is five, because four squared plus three squared is twenty-five. The positive square root is five. The second segment changes x by four again while y decreases by three. It also has length five under the same ideal right-triangle calculation.
The connected path therefore has a total length of ten units: five plus five. That total follows the bend through the middle point. It does not replace the x coordinate of the endpoint, the largest y coordinate or the distance between the two endpoints. Pia keeps the phrase along the path beside the number ten.
Compare path length and projected span
For path length and projected span, begin with the horizontal extent. The smallest x coordinate reached is zero and the largest is eight. Their difference is eight, so the model’s horizontal bounding span is eight units. Every point on the two straight segments lies within that horizontal interval.
The total path length is ten while this horizontal span is eight. The two sloping segments have not become shorter. They simply contribute part of their length in the depth direction as well as progressing horizontally. This is a conclusion about the stipulated paper geometry, not a prediction of a real folding screen’s usable width.
Keep the depth span with the width
The smallest y coordinate is zero and the largest is three. The depth span is therefore three units. A rectangular bounding box for this line model would extend eight horizontally and three in depth. Its sides describe the outer coordinate limits, rather than the amount of line inside it.
A summary saying only width eight would discard the depth information. A summary saying only path ten would discard both bounding dimensions. Neither shortened note describes every feature of the original drawing. Pia retains the coordinates and all three labelled quantities when explaining what the model actually contains.
A reflection changes the side of the axis
Now reflect the middle point across the horizontal axis, changing four, three to four, minus three. Leave the first and last points at zero, zero and eight, zero. The new path bends to the opposite side of the axis. Each segment still has a length of five and the total is still ten.
The horizontal span remains eight. The y coordinates now run from minus three to zero, so the depth span remains three. The sign identifies which side of the chosen axis the bend occupies. It does not make the distance negative. Keep the position of the span distinct from the size of the span.
Moving the whole drawing preserves its sizes
Create another version by moving every original point ten units right and twenty units in depth. The points become ten, twenty; fourteen, twenty-three; and eighteen, twenty. The x coordinates run from ten to eighteen, and the y coordinates from twenty to twenty-three. The corresponding spans are still eight and three.
Each segment retains the same coordinate changes as before, so each length stays five. The path total stays ten. The drawing has moved relative to its axes without changing its shape or size. A larger coordinate such as twenty-three is therefore not automatically a larger depth span. It identifies a position within the particular drawing.
Rotating the drawing changes its axis-relative spans
A quarter-turn rotation of the original model can be written with points at zero, zero; minus three, four; and zero, eight. The x coordinates now run from minus three to zero, giving a horizontal span of three. The y coordinates run from zero to eight, giving a depth span of eight.
The total connected length remains ten. The shape has turned rather than stretched, while the labels horizontal and depth remain attached to the original page axes. That is why the eight and three exchange roles in this version. No particular compass direction or orientation within a real room has been assigned to the drawing.
Backtracking makes endpoint separation another question
For a different path, use zero, zero; four, three; and zero, six. Both segments still have length five, making ten along the connected route. This time the endpoints are six units apart vertically. The horizontal bounding span is four, because the middle point reaches x equal to four even though the final x coordinate returns to zero.
The depth span is six. Calling the width zero from the two endpoint x coordinates would miss the middle of the path. Pia checks the full segments and their coordinate limits instead of assuming that endpoints alone supply the bounding width. This backtracking example is a different arrangement from the original forward-progressing path.
The straight distance between endpoints, the connected path length and the two bounding spans are therefore separate quantities. A note can state each if the question needs it. The exercise does not require one number to act as a general size label that silently replaces all the others.
Adding a segment changes the defined model
Return to the original three points and extend the path to a fourth point at twelve, three. The added segment has changes of four and three, so its length is five. The three-segment total becomes fifteen. The horizontal span becomes twelve while the depth span stays three.
That extension adds five units along the path and four units to the horizontal span. The depth limit does not grow because the new point reaches a y coordinate already present. The result follows these specific coordinates. Adding another segment to a different drawing would need its own coordinate check rather than automatic reuse of those changes.
If Pia keeps only the first segment, its path length is five, its horizontal span four and its depth span three. These are another complete set of labelled values for a changed model. Keep the original and shortened versions distinct so the result remains attached to the segments actually included.
Leave physical screen requirements outside the line model
The paper segments supply no thickness or contact with a floor. They cannot establish whether a screen stands securely, which openings its hinges permit or what handling instructions apply. A neat drawing does not answer those physical questions. Obtain the actual product’s applicable information rather than translating Pia’s coordinates into an opening angle for furniture.
The model also contains no door, window, route through a room or occupied seat. It establishes no clearance or acceptable placement. A real room and its access requirements would need their own actual assessment. This article gives no procedure for using furniture to create a barrier or conceal a view.
Read the Girard offer’s own dimensions
The selected Girard black three-panel room divider offer describes pine construction, hinged sections, a fully assembled screen and dimensions of seventy inches high, fifty wide and six deep. Its photograph shows three connected framed sections. The listing supplies no coordinate arrangement or measured footprint for Pia’s exercise. Its quoted dimensions do not establish a permitted angle or stability result on a particular floor.
Keep the Wayborn screen separate from the example
The selected Wayborn Red Chamber room divider offer states sixty inches wide and seventy-eight high, Chinese oak wood and a dark finish. Its photograph shows connected decorative lattice sections with carved details. The open design supplies no blackout, acoustic or complete-concealment claim here. Neither the listed width nor the photographed fold specifies the actual bounding span of a different arrangement.
Both offers concern complete freestanding room dividers under Room Dividers. Their actual dimensions, construction descriptions and unanswered practical questions remain with their own identities. Pia’s five-unit segments are not panel measurements for either item. An apparent resemblance between the paper bend and a product photograph does not establish matching geometry or operating instructions.
Keep the related guides with their own decisions
The fold-away reading corner guide starts with a lived choice about views, light, shared use and returning a screen to storage. Its product and family-manual references remain specific to that discussion. Pia’s new paper exercise instead distinguishes path length from bounding spans. It supplies no replacement reading-corner placement or handling advice.
The stocking diagonal explanation uses ideal rectangles to show that a diagonal alone does not determine width and height. Its model establishes no actual stocking fit. Here the inputs explicitly define a connected path, and the question is which dimension of that path is being reported. Neither paper model measures the retail objects it accompanies.
Keep a Republeq crypto order with the exact screen enquiry
If a reader considers a screen through republeq.com, retain the exact offer and the unresolved product questions relevant to that real purchase. Pia’s paper exercise requires no order and establishes no actual footprint, hinge range, stability, privacy, clearance or suitability for a particular room. Confirm the proposed divider, supplied contents and applicable instructions before deciding whether to buy. If the actual checkout offers cryptocurrency, including USDT, consider the methods and conditions presented for that particular basket. This article establishes no current token availability, network, payment address or amount and gives no transfer procedure. A preferred payment method cannot turn a listed expanded width into the footprint of an unspecified folded arrangement. Read the delivery and return terms applying to the actual order, and retain necessary unanswered questions while making the decision. If a transaction is made, keep its real order identity and payment response. An uncertain result needs reconciliation through the merchant before another payment is considered. Several revised notes about one proposed screen do not, by themselves, establish several orders or justify another payment. Use the actual transaction information for that question. Likewise, a photographed fold does not establish that an ordered divider has been delivered or set up in a household. A successful transaction would certify no physical arrangement. Keep the purchasing decision, dimension enquiry and transaction result connected through their actual records, without allowing one completed step to supply evidence for a different question that remains unresolved.
Finish with the dimension named
Pia’s original room divider paper plan has ten units along its two segments, eight of horizontal span and three of depth span. A reflection, move, turn or changed route affects the labelled quantities in specific ways. Keep the coordinates and the requested dimension with the result. The paper geometry establishes no real furniture placement, stability or usable-space claim.
A bent paper path and a separate straight span marker represent different dimensions.
