This listing is for a replacement hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) only — the hard drive is not included. Because we stock many PCBs, the board you receive may not be identical to the photo but will be a compatible unit. These PCBs are intended for hard drive repair or data recovery tasks. Most drive boards store unique configuration data in a ROM "memory" chip; that data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board, or the new board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data. If you can’t perform the transfer yourself, a local computer technician can normally move the chip for you. For purchases of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service, which includes either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or programming the replacement with the proper ROM data.
