Because we maintain a large stock of PCBs, the specific board you receive may vary slightly from the photo. This PCB is meant for hard drive repair and data recovery applications. Many hard drive circuit boards store unique drive-specific information in a ROM "memory" chip; that data is required for proper operation. The ROM chip itself or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board. If a chip transplant is feasible, a local computer technician can usually perform the transfer. For purchases of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service, which covers either moving the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
