This listing is for the hard drive printed circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock a large number of these PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Designed for hard drive repair and data recovery, this replacement board can be used to attempt recovery of a failing drive. Most WD PCBs contain unique data stored in a ROM ("memory") chip that is required for proper drive operation; that ROM or its contents must be transferred or programmed onto the replacement board. If you are not comfortable performing the transfer, a local computer technician can usually move the chip. For customers who purchase $60 or more, we provide a complimentary adaptation service that covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
