This sale is for the hard drive printed circuit board (PCB / logic board) only — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we stock a large number of these PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This PCB is intended for use in hard drive repair or data recovery situations. Many Seagate boards contain essential, drive-specific data stored in the ROM (memory) chip; that information is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board, or the replacement must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data. If you are not comfortable performing the transfer yourself, a local computer technician should be able to move the chip for you. For customers spending $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service, which includes either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the board with the correct ROM values.
