An integrated petal-shaped hood protects the front element and helps reduce lens flare by blocking stray light. The lens includes a rear-mounted filter holder located inside the lens mount that accepts cut gel filters; a filter cutting template is supplied. Both the front and rear elements have fluorine coatings to resist dust, moisture, and fingerprints and to make cleaning easier. The construction features dust- and moisture-sealing for more reliable use in adverse conditions, while rubberized control rings improve handling in colder temperatures. A physical aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture changes suited to video work, and the ring also has a locking "A" position for automated exposure modes.
