Research in northeast Georgia reported an average of 24% crude protein over three years. University of Georgia trials found Regal the most used of eight cool-season forages; a separate comparison of three ladino varieties found it the most economical source of nutrition. The seeds are treated with Nitro-Coat, which contains selected Rhizobia strains to promote nodulation and nitrogen fixation. The treatment is intended to improve establishment, emergence, survival and plant vigor, and to increase the chance of maximum yield and profitability. Sow coated seed at the same rate as uncoated seed: 10 Lbs per acre at a depth of 1/4 inch. Plant from February through April or September through October, preferably in clay or loam. Uses include deer, turkey, rabbit and quail food plots and pasture forage.
