Nikon's Vibration Reduction lets you shoot at shutter speeds approximately 3 stops slower than without VR, widening the range of usable shutter speeds and making telephoto shooting far easier even when you don't use a tripod. The lens' optical construction incorporates five ED glass elements to ensure high-quality performance throughout the entire zoom range. The G-design transfers distance information to both flash control and ambient exposure metering for improved exposure accuracy. Exterior sealing provides resistance to water drops on par with Nikon's telephoto AF-S lenses. A built-in A/M switch permits instant switching between autofocus and manual focus, and a lock mechanism is provided to secure the focus mode.
