The Heavy Duty Series powers 12 and 24 VDC communication and navigation equipment aboard commercial vessels. A front-panel slide switch selects 115 or 230 VAC input. Output voltage stays within 1% across rated line and load conditions. Ripple is less than 40 mV P-P for 12 V models and 70 mV P-P for 24 V models. The unit has a polyurethane conformal-coated PC board, a corrosion-resistant aluminum case with integral shock mounts, and large heat-sink fins. Protection includes overvoltage protection, current limiting set at 105% of the intermittent rating, thermal overload protection, and input and output fusing. CD units have a thermally activated cooling fan. All models have 1% line and load regulation at 110-125 / 220-250 VAC input. The selectable input range is 105-125/210-250 VAC at 50-60 Hz. Output is derated to 50% below 110 and 220 VAC. Operating temperature is 0-50°C; output is derated linearly from 100% at 40°C to 50% at 50°C. Thermal shutdown occurs at an 85°C case temperature. Intermittent duty allows 20 minutes maximum on time at 20% duty; continuous duty is 24 hours per day at 100% duty.
