Founded in 2001, the company says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its customers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of online buyers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography was invented in 1796 and made inexpensive mass production of prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper.

Archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to keep prints suitable for display and passing down through generations. The company's range includes historical posters and early aerial views of cities.
