Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L, sku-13223573499, UPC 467161108349. This 16" x 20" historic print depicts a view up the Des Moines River from a viaduct in Iowa. The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photos, and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced prints possible. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The company's range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco. These reproductions can be displayed at home or at work or given as gifts.
