No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L (sku-13269213300; UPC 468241564550), is a 16" x 20" historic print showing Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) reading a rough draft of the Declaration of Independence to Benjamin Franklin. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives and reproduces them on archival paper with pigmented inks.
Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its customers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet buyers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.
The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural history.
The company's range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
