No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past sku-13256256739 is Black Wall Art in size L. This 16 x 20 inch historic print depicts Thomas E. Dewey on a platform beside a train between Chicago and Milwaukee. UPC: 467423617121. The company makes home decor reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.
Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.
The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper, and prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks can last a lifetime and be passed down through generations.
The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
