Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L, SKU sku-13292805865, UPC 468155779583. This 16" x 20" print reproduces Ed. Pietsch's sketch of a war balloon at General M'Dowell's headquarters being prepared for a reconnoissance. The company, founded in 2001, reproduces maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

It was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796 and made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

The range includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work, or as gifts.
