Snapshots of the Past L Wall Art Washburn Map sku-5316400164

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L, is a framed reproduction of an 1886 map of Washburn, Wisconsin, measuring 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". SKU sku-5316400164; UPC 469050704755. The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives. Founded in 2001, it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; the National Digital Library Program followed in 1995 to digitize selected collections focused on American cultural history. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks. Available subjects include vintage holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
