No rating yet(0 ratings)This Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art print in size L (sku-13477300857, UPC 466367719984) measures 18 x 24 inches. It reproduces The Anarchist Riot in Chicago, showing a dynamite bomb exploding among police during the McCormick Strike at Haymarket Square. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past restores historical maps, photos and prints from the Library of Congress archives.
The company says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make posters inexpensive to mass-produce.
The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections about American cultural heritage. The reproduction prints use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.
The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
