The source also notes that lithography was invented in 1796; the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989, followed by the National Digital Library Program in 1995 to digitize selected collections on American cultural heritage. The range includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of major cities, offered as decor or gifts.
