Snapshots of the Past reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives on archival paper with pigmented inks. Founded in 2001, the company says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers.

It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections relating to American cultural history.

The brand also offers vintage posters, including Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day designs, and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
