The company reproduces historical maps, photos, and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

The source also describes lithography's invention in 1796 and the Library of Congress's 1989 American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program begun in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The company's range includes historic posters for holidays and early aerial views of cities, offered as home, study, or workplace decor and as gifts. SKU: sku-13249922147. UPC: 462901713463.
