Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art L sku-13640654732

Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L (sku-13640654732; UPC 467344066749), is a 16" x 20" reproduction of a Nov. 7 Washington, D.C., image of President Roosevelt's committee of rail labor and management representatives in discussion. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. The collection draws on archival maps, photographs and posters, including holiday posters and early aerial views of cities. Lithography was invented in 1796.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections on American cultural history. These reproductions use fine-art and archival paper with pigmented inks, materials intended to last for generations.
