Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13603801183

Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L (sku-13603801183; UPC 465928406332), reproduces a historic Park & Shop drive-in stores print. The source title identifies a typical skylight section for Shannon & Luchs on Connecticut Avenue between Ordway and Porter Streets N.W. in Washington, D.C., credits Arthur B. Heaton, and lists the print at 16 x 20 inches.

The company restores maps, photographs and prints from the Library of Congress archives. Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art and archival papers with pigmented inks.

The range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of cities.
