Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13292855514

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13292855514, UPC 466855648949, is a historic print of the Newport News dry docks. It measures 16 x 20 inches and is listed in Black, size L. The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography, which made inexpensive mass production of prints possible, was invented in 1796. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage.

The company's reproduction prints use fine-art and archival paper with pigmented inks, intended to last for generations. Its range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The company suggests these retro-style prints for display at home or work and as gifts.
