Its SKU is sku-13260555192, and its UPC is 464883530915. The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from the Library of Congress archives on fine-art and archival paper.

Prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last a lifetime and be passed down. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality, fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of Internet customers.

It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make mass-produced poster prints inexpensive. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The company's examples of prints for homes, studies, workplaces and gifts include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
