Snapshots of the Past Wall Art Print L sku-13263850374

Snapshots of the Past's "Making a catch" is a 16" x 20" historic print listed as Black Wall Art in size L. Its UPC is 462273732871, and its SKU is sku-13263850374. The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints from the Library of Congress archives as home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last a lifetime and be passed down.

The company's other print subjects include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. It presents its retro-style posters as decor for homes, studies and workplaces and as gifts.
