Snapshots of the Past L Posters Print sku-13242218592

Snapshots of the Past offers this Black, size L historic print in its Posters range (sku-13242218592; UPC 461753165901). The title identifies a Bordeaux exhibition print, “Lart guerrier et art moderne,” measuring 16 x 20 inches. The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The company's range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
