Snapshots of the Past Black Posters L | sku-13261865502

Snapshots of the Past Posters, Black, size L, sku-13261865502, UPC 466294719828. This 16" x 20" historic print shows Orchard Knob, Grant's headquarters at the battle of Missionary Ridge. The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of Internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of posters possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections about American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations.

The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and retro-style posters for homes, studies and workplaces or as gifts.
