Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, L | sku-13471306755

Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L: a reproduction of a 1915 New Orleans photo measuring 11" wide by 49" long. SKU: sku-13471306755. UPC: 463497370368. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections focused on American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks, materials intended to last for generations.
