Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make mass-produced posters inexpensive.
In 1989, the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project, which laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections concerning the complexity of American cultural heritage. The company's prints use fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks; prints made with archival materials can last a lifetime and be passed down.
Its other subjects include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
