Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L sku-13262115796 Print

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art is a Black, size L reproduction print, SKU sku-13262115796 and UPC 464959836224. This 16" x 20" historic print shows insurance companies and other buildings on Main Street in Hartford, Connecticut. The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from the Library of Congress archives for home display.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art and archival papers with pigmented inks, materials intended to last for generations.

The range also includes vintage holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display or gifts.
