Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, L | sku-13256467896

This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art print shows Halls' Gap in the vicinity of Louisville, Kentucky. It measures 16" x 20" and is listed in Black, size L (sku-13256467896, UPC 464761467579). The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make mass-produced prints inexpensive.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks and are intended to last for generations.

The range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
