Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L sku-5237499884 Black

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-5237499884, is a Black framed print in size L (UPC 468647311574). It shows an Egyptian cornfield on the Frazier Ranch in Kern County, California, with the ranch headquarters in the background. The print measures 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from the Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper with pigmented inks, intended to last a lifetime and be passed down. The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The company suggests its retro-style prints for homes, studies, workplaces and gifts.
