Snapshots of the Past Posters, size L sku-13223923663

Snapshots of the Past Posters in Black, size L, are listed under sku-13223923663 and UPC 466862029090. This 16" x 20" historic print shows the view north from the Lincoln School House toward California and Stockton Streets in San Francisco. The company restores maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives as home decor.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced posters possible. In 1989, the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural history.

The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The range includes holiday posters and early aerial views of cities such as Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
