This historic print shows Boy Costa George, who worked regularly in Stark Mill No.3 in Manchester, New Hampshire. The print measures 16" x 20". Snapshots of the Past makes reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using fine-art and archival paper.
Prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, the company was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers.
It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced posters possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.
The range includes holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints can be displayed at home or at work or given as gifts.
