The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives using archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project.

The company also offers historical posters, including old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day designs and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for homes, studies, workplaces or gifts. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. SKU sku-13237716090; UPC 465859906918.
