Snapshots of the Past Historic Wall Art L sku-13232971478

Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L, sku-13232971478, UPC 462726218532, is a 16 x 20 inch historic print of Fort Montague, Nassau, W.I. The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives. Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for a White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks, intended to last for generations.

The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and other retro-style prints for homes, studies, workplaces or gifts.
