UPC: 465761496293. The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives for home decor.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.
In 1989, the Library of Congress American Memory pilot project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art and archival papers; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last a lifetime and be passed down.
Other print subjects include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The retro-style posters can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
