The company restores maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives and makes reproductions with archival paper and pigmented inks, intended to last a lifetime and be passed down.
Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.
The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural history.
The company's other prints include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. These retro-style prints can be displayed at home or work or given as gifts. UPC: 464723720575. SKU: sku-13288020905.
