This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art print (sku-13244202941, UPC 463235526385) is a Black, size L reproduction of A.V. Pratt U.S.A., measuring 16 by 20 inches. The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives. Its prints use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796 and helped make inexpensive, mass-produced prints possible. In 1989, the Library of Congress began the American Memory pilot project, which laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections concerned with American cultural history. The company's range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Its retro-style prints can be displayed at home or at work or given as gifts.
