Snapshots of the Past L Wall Art Print sku-5231388652

Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L, is a framed reproduction of photographs of Vinnie Ream Hoxie’s sculpture “The Butterfly,” a portrait bust of a young girl. The listed dimensions are 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives and makes reproductions using archival paper and pigmented inks.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.

A 1989 Library of Congress pilot called American Memory laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The company also offers historical posters, including holiday designs and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display or gifts. SKU: sku-5231388652.
