The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives and makes reproductions using archival paper and pigmented inks. Founded in 2001, it states that it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. The listing describes lithography as a printing technique invented in 1796 that made inexpensive mass production of prints possible. It also notes that the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The company describes its archival prints as suitable for long-term display or passing down. Its other subjects include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; it suggests retro-style prints for a home, study or workplace or as gifts.
