Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L Print sku-5233484714

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art: a Black, size L framed print of Piers at Newport News, measuring 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". Its SKU is sku-5233484714 and its UPC is 467428489624. The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced posters possible. A Library of Congress pilot project called American Memory began in 1989 and laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. These retro-style prints are offered for homes, studies and workplaces or as gifts.
