Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L Print sku-5286824592

Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L (sku-5286824592, UPC 469039337394), is a framed reproduction print of J.M. Pino, Ex-Gov. of Yucatan, measuring 17-7/8" x 21-7/8". The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced posters possible.

In 1989, the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural history. These reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

The collection also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, offered as retro-style decor or gifts.
