SKU: sku-5310917687; UPC: 466048399771. The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives on fine-art and archival paper.

Its prints use pigmented inks and archival paper intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers.

It was selected as a vendor for a White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage.

The company's reproduction subjects also include vintage Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints are intended for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
