Frequently used to deepen blue skies and boost saturation in white clouds; the effect is strongest when the filter is used at a 90° angle to the sun. The CPL arranges and filters directionally polarized light perpendicular to the reflected light, allowing much of that reflected light to be absorbed — this also helps clear haze in distant landscapes and yields more saturated, vivid colors.
