Circular polarizing (CPL) filter made for the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. The ultra-slim aluminum frame prevents vignetting while still permitting full rotation to dial in the desired polarization. A textured, nonslip upper rim simplifies mounting, turning and removal. Both sides feature multi-layered, double-sided coatings that are anti-oil, anti-dust, anti-soil, and resistant to scratches and water. The filter removes unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass and boosts color saturation and contrast. CPL filters work by arranging and filtering directionally polarized light perpendicular to reflected light, allowing much of that light to be absorbed. This clears atmospheric haze in distant scenes and produces richer, more vivid colors. The effect is strongest when the filter is used at a 90° angle from the sun.
