The glass carries double-sided, multi-layered coatings that are anti-oil, anti-dust, anti-soil, and resistant to scratches and water. By filtering directionally polarized light perpendicular to reflections, the CPL absorbs much of the reflected light, cutting haze in distant scenes and producing richer, more saturated skies and clouds.

The effect is strongest when used at a 90° angle to the sun, making it ideal for landscape and outdoor photography.
