Protective oil finish: An oil-based outdoor sealer is used to enhance the cedar’s natural reddish tones and add an amber warmth to the piece while improving water resistance. For furniture left fully exposed to sun, rain, wind and other elements, restain once per year. If the item sits in a partially protected spot (for example, on a porch), restain after the first year and then every 2-3 years. Any cedar-tone oil-based sealer will work; we use Finish Works FL5812.
