DENSO says the patented plug's ground electrode produces a larger spark nucleus, helping ignite lean fuel mixtures, improve flame travel and throttle response, and reduce misfires, erratic starts, emissions and fuel consumption. It says the design improves ignition despite poor fuel mixtures and soot buildup, supports more complete and consistent combustion, and improves emission-gas purification.

Each plug is 100 percent pre-fired; DENSO says it lasts twice as long as conventional plugs. Its five-rib insulator reduces flashover and voltage loss. DENSO has developed direct ignition coils and used platinum and iridium in aftermarket performance plugs. Its quality awards include the Deming Award for Quality, the J.D.
