Revise a lettering shadow around an original HELLO

An original wordmark study revises the dark shape behind HELLO while keeping the letter openings, spacing and surrounding field part of the composition.

A lettering shadow can become a shape you no longer want behind a word. This original HELLO study starts with that deliberate problem: teal block letters sit over a broad charcoal shape that joins their lower edges. The drawing has no printing fault to diagnose. Its maker has chosen a heavy graphic treatment and now wants a different one. The revision will retain HELLO, change the shadow into a narrow ochre edge and leave the opening inside O pale.

The entire design is supplied here as a drawing idea. You can picture it on a plain page or make your own version with a drawing method you already use. It is not a tracing from a product photograph or a test of particular pens. The shadow is an authored graphic shape, so it can be edited independently of the letters. It does not have to behave like a physical shadow cast by a lamp.

Give the front word its complete shape

Imagine a wide ivory rectangle with HELLO across its middle. Leave an unmarked band above the word and another below it. The letters are solid teal, with no texture inside them. H has two upright bars joined across the middle. E has one upright and three arms, with its middle arm shorter than the upper and lower ones. The two Ls each have an upright and a foot extending right. O is a broad oval ring with an ivory opening.

These are the chosen letterforms for this piece. There is no decorative curl on H, no rounded end on E and no extra stroke crossing O. The repeated Ls remain separate letters, with ivory between the first foot and the next upright. That gap belongs to the front word before any shadow is added. A different maker could invent curved letters, but changing their style halfway through this comparison would create another project.

Locate the broad shape that crowds the word

In the first version, a charcoal shape extends below and to the right of the teal letters. Broad dark strips sit beneath the lower arms. Beneath the two Ls, those strips join into a continuous bar. The shadow also enters the ivory opening in O as a dark patch along its lower-left interior. These are intentional marks in the starting design. The opening is partly occupied because the maker drew the charcoal there, not because an unseen accident damaged the page.

Look at the resulting arrangement as three parts: teal letters, charcoal decoration and the ivory field. The dark bar beneath the Ls is almost another underline. Inside O, the charcoal patch competes with the plain opening specified for the front letter. For this project, the maker wants both of those areas to change. That is a stated artistic preference for this drawing, without a claim that every viewer finds a heavy shadow difficult to read.

Keep open letter shapes in the revision

Begin the revised design with the same teal front word. Give O its complete ivory opening again. Remove the dark patch from that interior rather than merely changing the patch to another dark color. The oval ring now surrounds one uninterrupted pale area. This is the selected version of O for the piece. It does not require the shadow to describe the inside edge of every letter or to reproduce a physically calculated projection.

The space beside E needs a different choice. Its three arms already open to the surrounding ivory. Leave the spaces between those arms connected to the field. Do not add a dark vertical strip across their right-hand ends in the revision. For H, retain broad ivory spaces above and below the crossbar; a thin ochre edge beside an upright may remain. These local decisions make the proposed open letter shapes concrete: an oval opening, gaps between arms and spaces around a crossbar are being treated individually.

Draw a narrow shadow along selected outside edges

Replace the broad charcoal treatment with an ochre edge visible just below and to the right of the front letters. Let it follow the outside of the lower H stems, the bottom of E and the lower-right outside curve of O. Leave the closed O opening ivory. A thin edge may follow a side of H's upright without joining across its open area. The new narrow shadow is a separate decorative shape designed around those decisions, rather than an obligation to retain every part of the original dark copy.

At the Ls, give each foot its own short ochre edge. Stop the first edge before it joins the next letter's upright. The ivory break between the two front letters therefore continues below their feet. On the second L, let the ochre end with the foot instead of stretching toward O as a connecting rule. These are changes to particular ends of the shadow. Simply shrinking the original bar while leaving it continuous would retain a feature the maker wanted to remove.

Compare the color change with the shape change

There are two different revisions here. One changes the broad shadow into selected narrow edges. The other changes charcoal to ochre. Imagine an intermediate version with the new narrow edges still drawn in charcoal. It retains the cleared O and separated L feet, but keeps the original dark accent. That is a complete alternative worth comparing with the chosen ochre version. The difference can be named without pretending a new color alone removed the old bar.

Now imagine the old broad shape colored ochre while its outlines remain unchanged. Its bar still runs beneath both Ls, and its patch still occupies part of O. This alternative preserves the crowded arrangement that prompted the project. The maker chooses the narrow ochre version because it combines the selected edge treatment with a warm accent beside teal. That preference belongs to this composition; the exercise offers no rule that ochre always improves lettering.

Leave the front letters stable while choosing their surroundings

The two Ls provide a useful place to resist an unrelated redesign. Widening the entire front word would change the ivory gap, but it would also move the letterforms that the comparison was meant to retain. In the chosen revision, the front letters stay where they began. Only the shadow ends are separated. If you prefer a wider word, make that another version and describe it as a spacing change, rather than crediting all of its difference to the shadow.

Keep the ivory bands above and below HELLO while considering a border. One possible frame is a thin charcoal rectangle around the whole page. Another is a row of ochre dots below the word. Neither belongs to the selected version. The maker leaves the surrounding field plain so the final drawing consists of the teal letters and their ochre edge. A border would be a new element with its own place in the composition, not a repair that the word automatically requires.

Consider the flat version before keeping the accent

A third complete alternative removes the shadow entirely. Teal HELLO remains on ivory, with the same H, E, two Ls and open O. This version has no ochre line beneath the feet and no charcoal patch anywhere. It supplies a real choice beside the revised drawing. The maker keeps the narrow ochre treatment because that accent is part of the finished piece they want, while the flat version remains a coherent wordmark in its own right.

The finished selection is specific: a wide ivory field, the original teal front word, an uninterrupted ivory opening in O and separate ochre edges beneath the L feet. The broad charcoal bar, interior patch, dotted row and outside frame are omitted. You can make another selection for your own drawing. Give it an equally complete account so someone can tell which letter shapes and decorative marks you intended to include.

Read the drawing-supply references within their limits

The Tombow 56216 dual brush pen offer describes water-based pens with brush and fine tips, listed as six packs of ten. Its sole image shows one Tombow Cottage retail pack with ten visible capped pen forms. The picture does not authenticate the unreadable model number or verify the full bulk quantity that would arrive. Those pack levels remain unresolved. This drawing idea establishes no tested ink behavior, exact available color or pen-and-paper compatibility.

The Faber-Castell Polychromos color pencil offer names a 60-pencil tin. The closed tin pictured in its gallery also carries the 60 Polychromos color-pencil label. Its pencil images are part of the presentation, not an inventory of counted loose contents. Keep the catalogue's material and performance claims attributed to that offer. The closed retail tin does not establish a separately supplied general organizer, and this article reports no hands-on result with those pencils.

Keep the neighboring exercises separate

The rubber stamp double-image guide asks whether extra contours belong to an intended motif or a displaced repeated impression. Its existing-proof diagnosis remains separate. HELLO's broad shadow is openly intentional from the start, and the decision concerns a new graphic treatment. Changing this drawing supplies no explanation or handling remedy for an unexplained stamped mark.

The watercolor brush pen color-chart tutorial records what particular tools do on a chosen paper. Use that separate investigation when your materials need checking. A chart cannot choose the authored shape of this shadow for you, and this wordmark does not certify a wet or blended technique. Its completed result is the selected drawing described above.

Keep any order tied to the actual supplies

The HELLO study does not require a new purchase. If you choose to order supplies through republeq.com, start with the exact item and the information presented for that order. A preference for cryptocurrency or USDT does not establish that a payment option is available. Read the choices actually offered before deciding how to proceed. Keep unresolved product questions with the selection. For a bulk pen offer, ask about the pack quantity that would be supplied; a photograph of one package cannot settle that transaction's contents. For a closed pencil tin, obtain clarification of the particular offer when a detail matters to you. Neither a drawing nor a payment confirmation verifies the goods delivered. If cryptocurrency is offered, obtain the current asset, network, amount, receiving details and order reference from the transaction's applicable instructions. This article provides no wallet address, network selection, fee estimate or promise about processing. Leave an essential unanswered instruction open until the responsible service clarifies it through a channel you have checked. Review the delivery, cancellation, return and refund terms that apply before authorizing the order. Save the acknowledgements and records identifying any action you take. If the order or a payment has uncertain status, reconcile what happened before considering another payment. An unresolved record does not establish that nothing occurred. If someone else is ordering for you, give them the selected item, the decision you have made and the questions still outstanding. Keep the actual order reference with later correspondence so a response can be connected to the transaction it concerns.
