Writing Mexican History by Eric Van Young sku-19510125

Writing Mexican History is a hardcover collection of essays by Eric Van Young, listed under Latin American History Books as sku-19510125. Several essays appear in English here for the first time. They examine writing on colonial and nineteenth-century rural Mexico and Latin America, colonial Mexico, and Mexican independence, alongside methods of regional and cultural history and the relationship between cultural and economic history.

The collection includes discussions of Mexican hacienda studies since 1980 and the "new cultural history" of Mexico. Some essays have drawn debate; others, including those on hacienda studies and regional history, are widely considered classics in the field.
